RSI

RSI's (Repetitive Strain Injuries) are common among people who type a lot, and stress and poor workplace ergonomics exacerbate the problem. We both got serious RSI's while working for a magazine. After several years and a lot of neuromuscular and Alexander therapy, we're both mostly better.

Symptoms:

  • Sharp, shooting, burning, or vague aching pain in the hands, wrists, fingers, arms, or neck
  • Tightness, discomfort, stiffness, hypersensitivity and/or tingling in the hands, wrists, fingers, arms, or neck
  • Coldness or numbness in the hands or fingers
  • Clumsiness or loss of strength and coordination in the hands
  • Pain in the arms or hands that wakes you up at night
  • Feeling a need to massage your hands, wrists or arms
