Selecting and Deleting Text
Select All (All Now)
Last Phrase
Last 1-40 Phrases
Scratch 1-20 [This
delete the last "x" number of phrases you spoke.]
Delete That Now [Note: many programs allow
you to say "Delete That." Use this command in programs
like Explorer that do not allow the shorter version.]
Delete Right/Left
Delete 1-40 Now (Press
Delete 1-40) [This and the next macro delete "x"
number of spaces forward or backward, respectively.]
Backspace 1-40
Select/Delete Next/Last 1-20 [This
command deletes words. Note: this is a change in
version 5.]
Delete/Select 1-10 1-10 [This
command deletes words in two directions. Note: this
is a change in version 5. The next command deletes characters,
words, or lines in two directions. For example "Delete 3,5"
delete the last three next five words. "Delete 3,5 Letters" deletes the
last three and next five letters.]
Delete/Select 1-10 1-10 Letters/Words/Lines/Clean

This (Select) Document
Select/Delete Last/Next Word/Line
Select/Delete Last/Word
(Next) * [This
is an alternate, shorter we to say the above "Word" command. "Delete Last"
deletes only the last word even if text is highlighted, making it a useful
command in the correction box.]
Delete Line Back (Backspace)
Back (Backspace) Word [This is similar to Backspace.
It's an alternate way to delete the last word.]
Back (Backspace) Line [And this is an alternate
way to delete the last line.]
Next (Select)/Last 1-40 Words/Lines/Clean
Lines/Paragraphs/Pages [The
"Clean Lines" commands return the cursor to the beginning of the line
it is on before selecting a number of lines.]
Select Up/Down 1-40 [This
is a slightly different way to select lines than the above commands because
it does not select full lines, so the last line will be a partial one
if the cursor was not initially at the beginning of the line.]
1-10 Words/Lines/Clean Lines
Control Up/Down [This
and the next four commands allow you to select non-contiguous files. this
and the next command allow you to move the cursor while selected files
remain selected. The control space commands allow you to select files.]
Control Up/Down 1-100
Control
Space
Control
Space Up/Down 1-100
Control Space 1-100 [This
is an alternative way to save the above "Control Down 1-100"
command.]
<Direct
Grid Command> 1-102 by 1-76 Up/Down/Left/Right
1-100 [This
and the next four commands combine positioning the mouse with selecting
text. Once you get used to the Direct Grid commands these are very fast
ways to select text. SEE the Moving The Mouse section for a more detailed
explanation of the Direct Grid commands]
<Direct
Grid Command> 1-102 by 1-76 Letter
(Character)/Word/Line/Paragraph/Oops
(Correct That)/Play (Oops Play) (Correct That Play)
[This combines placing the cursor with selecting a letter, word or paragraph.
The Oops and Play commands placing the cursor, then invoke the NatSpeak
Correct That box with with the nearest phrase selected. The play command
then plays that phrase.]
(<Direct
Grid Command> 1-102 by 1-76 Select Letter
(Character)/Word/Line/Paragraph)
<Direct
Grid Command> 1-102 by 1-76 1-40
Letter(s) (Character(s))/Word(s)/Line(s)/Paragraph(s)
<Direct
Grid Command> 1-102 by 1-76 Drag Up/Down/Left/Right
1-100 [This
is similar to the above command but uses the drag commands instead of
the shift plus arrow key commands to select. This is especially useful
in programs where the shift, arrow key selection does not work, like Web
browsers and original incoming messages in Eudora.]
Direct Grid Command:
Go (Mouse)/Window
(Relative)/Touch/Touch 2/Touch Right/Window Touch/Window Touch 2/Window
Right (Window Touch Right)
Delete 1-20 Words/Lines/Clean
Lines/Paragraphs
Back (Backspace) Word/Line 1-20
(Select/Delete Next/Last 1-20 Words/Lines/Clean
Lines/Paragraphs)
Delete 1st-10th/End Word [This
and the next three commands very useful in the NatSpeak correction box.]
Skip Delete/Left/Right/Delete
Left/Delete Right ["Skip
Delete" skips back one word and deletes the next word back. "Skip
Left" skips back one word and moves the cursor one space to the left.
"Skip Delete Left" skips back one word, deletes the next word
back and moves the cursor one space to the left.]
Skip 1-20 Letters/Words/Lines Delete [The
"Delete" refers to the same thing as the "Skip." For example, "Skip 5
Lines Delete" will move the cursor back five lines, then delete the line
before that.]
Skip 1-20 Delete/Left/Right/Delete
Left/Delete Right [This
is a quicker way to use the above macro to skip and delete words.]
Skip 1-20 Letters/Words/Lines Delete 1-10 [Examples:
"Skip 4 Lines, Delete 2" will put the cursor back 4 lines, then delete
two lines before that. "Skip 3 Letters, Delete one" will go back three
letters, then delete the last letter.]
Skip 1-20 Delete/Left/Right 1-10 [This
is a quicker way to use the above macro to skip and delete words.]
Skip 1-20 Letters/Words/Lines Delete 1-10 Letters/Words/Lines
Delete Last [This deletes the last word to
the left.]
Letter/Word/Line 1-20 Delete/Left/Right/Delete
Left/Delete Right [This
and the following two commands are similar to the "Skip" commands above,
but they go forward rather than backward. For example, "Word 5 Delete"
will move the cursor five words forward, then delete the next word.]
Letter/Word/Line 1-20 Delete/Left/Right 1-20
Letter/Word/Line 1-20 Delete 1-20 Letters/Word/Lines
Top of/Rest of Line/Paragraph/Document
Delete/Select Top
of/Rest of Line/Paragraph/Document
Delete Home/End/Top/Bottom
Delete/Next (Select)/Last Home/End/Top/Bottom 1-40 [This
and the following commands number of characters, words or lines starting
from the beginning or end of the line or document. "Last End 4" goes four
characters to the left of the end of the line you're on. "Next Home 10"
puts the cursor at the beginning of the line and selects the next ten
characters to the right. "Delete Home 10" does the same, then deletes
the selected characters.]
Home/End/Top/Bottom 1-40 Words/Lines
Delete Home/End/Top/Bottom Word
Delete Home/End/Top/Bottom 1-40 Words/Lines
Home/End/Top/Bottom Next (Select)/Last 1-40 Words/Lines
Left/Right/Down/Up Delete/Select Rest
of/Top of Line/Paragraph/Document [This
and next two macros combine direction commands with delete or select commands.
For instance, "Left Delete Rest of Line" will move the cursor one character
to the left, then delete the rest of the line.]
Left/Right/Down/Up 1-10 Delete/Select Rest
of/Top of Line/Paragraph/Document
Left/Right/Down/Up Delete/Select Line/Paragraph
Left/Right/Down/Up Rest of/Top of Line/Paragraph/Document [This
and the next two macros are shorter versions of the "Select" commands
above.]
Left/Right/Down/Up 1-10 Rest
of/Top of Line/Paragraph/Document
Left/Right/Down/Up Line/Paragraph
Left/Right/Down/Up Back (Backspace)/Delete ["Right
Backspace" moves right one, then deletes the last character. This and
the next command are good shortcuts for situations -- like in the correction
box -- when you want to delete part of a highlighted section.]
Left/Right/Down/Up Back (Backspace)/Delete 1-20
Left/Right/Down/Up 1-20 Back (Backspace)/Delete
Left/Right/Down/Up 1-20 Back (Backspace)/Delete 1-20
Erase Line [This deletes a line
and leaves a blank space.]
Erase 1-20 Lines
Erase Next/Last
1-20 Lines
Quote Delete [This adds an end quote and
deletes the rest of line.]
Home Delete [This deletes the first character
in a line.]
Enter Clean (Clean Line) [This Combines
"Press Enter," and "Backspace" and is useful when splitting up lines.]
Remove Apostrophe/Ends/Left Space/Right Space/Space ["Apostrophe"
removes the apostrophe from the last word typed. "Ends" removes the first
and last character of a word. It's useful if you want get rid of braces,
stars or parentheses, etc. The Left and Right Space commands put the space
to the right or left of a pair of braces, parentheses etc. and put the
cursor back in the middle of them. "Space" removes the space to the right
and left of the current word.]
Add (Put)/Backspace Left/Right ["Backspace"
moves left or right one, deletes the next character to the right or left,
then moves back. "Add" moves left or right one, adds a space, then moves
back. The following command does the same but adds the number of spaces
of your choice. These commands are for repositioning a pair of parentheses,
brackets etc. when the cursor is between them.]
Add (Put) Left/Right 1-10
Undo Backspace/Delete [This
combines "Undo" and "Backspace" or "Delete"]
Delete Space [This and following
command delete spaces between words to the left]
Delete 1-20 Spaces
End Delete 1-20 Spaces [This
deletes spaces starting from the end of the line.]
