(Documentation
and/or Macros Last Changed August 20, 2001)
Introduction
This is a set of macros for NaturallySpeaking 5.0 Professional running
on Windows 2000. Most of them also work with NaturallySpeaking 3.5 and
4.0 and Windows 98. They are designed to speed up the work I do, which
includes writing, building web pages, and surfing the net. Everything
I do on a computer, including writing macros, is done hands-free using
voice commands.
In addition to Global macros, there are sets of macros for NatSpeak, Windows
Explorer, Quick View Plus, Eudora, Netscape, Internet Explorer, Word,
Notepad, WordPad, EditPad, Photoshop, ACDSee, Paint Shop Pro, Dreamweaver,
Cute HTML, Cute FTP and Quicken. There is also a large set of NatSpeak
macros that speeds up macro writing. (Several macros in the NatSpeak:
7 of 8 group are modified versions of a set posted by David Wathen at
www.abilities.com/nsmacprg.htm.)
To copy the macros
to your NatSpeak professional 5.0 NatSpeak user
1. Unzip the Kim's macros file.
2. Say "NaturallySpeaking,"
"Custom Commands," "Import," browse to the directory
you unzipped Kim's macros into, highlight the ".dvc" files you
wish to add, and import them. You may have to import them in several batches.
I have found NatSpeak doesn't like importing more than five files at a
time. If you want to delete any of these files later, it is easy. Say
"NaturallySpeaking," "Custom Commands," "Delete,"
highlight the files you wish to delete, and delete them.
(To copy these macros
to your NatSpeak professional 4.0 user, follow the following gray instructions.
The macro files are the same with the exception of the NaturallySpeaking
macros file. Make sure to download and add the KimNATSPEAK4 if you're
using professional 4.0.
INSTRUCTIONS for installing macros to a NaturallySpeaking
4.0 user:
If
you want to add this set of macros to your user file, it's a good idea
to first to make a copy of your user file so you can install the macros
on one copy and keep the other one as it was. To make a duplicate user,
say "Click User," then "Restore" -- the program will take a minute or
so to make a duplicate of your current user file with a numbered "restored"
label on it. For example, if your user name is Kim, your first restored
duplicate user will be labeled "Kim-Restored1." To see all your user files
including the restored files, say "Click User," then "Users." (Once you
install these macros, you will be able to see the user files by saying
"Show Users.")
To install the macros to NaturallySpeaking 4.0
Unzip the KimsMacros.zip file and install them using the macro merge utility
NaturalImport.dvc found at Joel Gould's site at www.synapseadaptive.com/joel/natmergeautilityaprogram.htm
or in the download section of the Dragon Systems site at www.dragonsystems.com.)
3.In addition, copy the "Store" folder into your "My Documents" folder
(C:\My Documents). This folder contains blank files named 1-20, a-z used
by various Copy, Open, and Paste 1-20, a-z commands. It also contains
the numbered Name, Macro and List files used by the Copy and Paste Macro
commands. And it also contains the macro documentation files needed by
the "Show <Macro capital Categories> Macros" commands that allow
you to access the various sections of this document quickly via a Web
browser.
Note: If you
are using Windows 98 instead of Windows 2000 you must also change the
name of the main Windows Explorer macro group from "\" to "Exploring"
to make the Windows Explorer macros work. To do this say "Edit
Explorer," "Edit Window Title," and change the title to
"Exploring."
This documentation and the KimsMacros.zip file can be downloaded from
