General Global Macros:

Just a Second (Turn Off) (Go to Sleep)
Ready Now (Turn On) (Wake Up)
Please Cancel (Cancel)
Oops (in place of Correct That)   [Note: This and the following three macros are not part of the kimsmacros.dvc file, but have to be put on your computer in a different way. Instructions for making these changes are on page 35 in the Other Changes section. Note that once you make these changes you will no longer be able to say the command it replaces.]
Left Oops   [This simply moves the cursor one character left, then invokes the loops command. This is useful when you say a phrase, then punctuation like a period or a comma before realizing the phrase is wrong.]
Fix <Any Words> (in place of Correct <Any Words>)
Please <Any Button or Menu Item> (in place of Click <Any Button or Menu Item>)
Add    Caps/No Caps/All Caps (in place of Cap/No Caps/All Caps That)
Add    Caps (Cap)/All Caps Line
Cap    Word (Last)/Next/Home    A-Z    ["Cap Word B" would replace the first letter of the word the cursor is on, or, if the cursor is between words, the word the left of the cursor, with a capital B. "Home" replaces the first letter of the word at the beginning of the line cursor is on. "Next" does the same with the word to the right of the cursor. This is an especially useful command in the correction box, where the above "Cap" commands do not work.]

Start    Menu/Programs/Documents/Settings/Run/Favorites/Find/Help/Msconfig/Regedit
Start/Switchto    <Any Program>   [Any Program refers to any program listed anywhere in your start menu.]
Start/Switch to    Files    [This is an alternate, easier way to say Start Windows Explorer.]
Close/Launch (House)    <Program>    [Launch <Program> is simply an alternative to Start <Any Program> but it only works for programs in the <Program> list.]

Program:
NatSpeak/Word/Notepad/Wordpad/WordPerfect/Eudora/Netscape/Explorer/Dreamweaver/ Fusion/Photoshop/Cute FTP/Quicken

Shortcut Menu     [This brings up the shortcut menu for the program you are in.]
Task    Manager/Performance/Processes/Applications     [This brings up the task manager opened to its different views.]

<Open Programs>    Open/Big/Tall/Wide/Very Big/Very Wide/Very Tall/a-z, Alpha-Zulu     [The Open command --"Start Word Open", for example-- combines starting a program and opening that program's files. The size commands do the same but also change the size of the open file window. The alphabet commands-- "Start Word Alpha", for example -- combine starting a program, opening the programs files, and moving the cursor to the first file starting with the letter in question.]

<Open Programs>    Open/Big/Tall/Wide/Very Big/Very Wide/Very Tall    a-z, Alpha-Zulu

<Open Programs>    <Look In Drives Files>   [This combines starting or switching to a program with opening the folder or file in that program. For instance, saying "Word My Documents" would bring up Word with the My Documents folder showing in the Open File window.]

<Open Programs>    Go    <Look In Drives Files   [This does the same as the above macro. The different wording reflects the separate commands this combines. For instance, you can get to the same place as the above example by saying "Start Word Go My Documents," or by saying "Start Word," then, when Word is up, saying "Go My Documents."]
<Open Programs>    <Look In Drives Files>     a-z, Alpha-Zulu
<Open Programs>    Open (Open File)/Recent (Recent Files)/Last (Last File)/Last 1-9/Paste    [These combine starting or switching to a program with the "Open File," "Recent Files," or "Last File" commands.]

[The following five macros are an older, alternate way to say the above five commands]
(Start(Launch)/Switch to (Switch)    <Open Programs>    Open/Big/Tall/Wide/Very Big/Very Wide/Very Tall/a-z, Alpha-Zulu

Start(Launch)/Switch to (Switch)    <Open Programs>    Open/Big/Tall/Wide/Very Big/Very Wide/Very Tall    a-z, Alpha-Zulu
Start/Switch to (Switch)    <Open Programs>    <StartSwitchFolders>
Start/Switch to (Switch)    <Open Programs>    Go    <StartSwitchFolders>
Start/Switch to (Switch)    <Open Programs>    Open (Open File)/Recent (Recent Files)/Last (Last File)/Paste)

Netscape/Internet Explorer (Internet) (IE)    <Bookmarks>/<BookmarksFiles>/<Homepage Headings>     [This and the next nine macros allow you to combine opening Netscape and Internet Explorer with going to a location, changing or editing a bookmarks file, and/or the "Find" command.]
Netscape/Internet Explorer (Internet) (IE)    Find    <Homepage Headings>
Netscape/Internet Explorer (Internet) (IE)      <BookmarksFiles>    Find
Netscape/Internet Explorer (Internet) (IE)      <BookmarksFiles>    Find    <Homepage Headings>

Eudora     <Mailbox>/ (Go <Mailbox>)
Eudora     <Mailbox>    <Mailbox>
Message(New Message)/Send/Send This/Send All    to/Nickname/(to Nickname)      [The send commands in this and the next macro copy all(send and send all) or what is highlighted (send this) before going to Eudora and carrying out the other commands. In the following "Eudora send to Nickname" macro what is copied into the body of the mail message.]

Explore (Explorer)    Download Pictures     [This macro is one specific to my machine, but it can be modified to speed regular file transfers. It works in conjunction with the "Download Pictures" macro in Explorer.]

Word    <Word Get Files>     [This combines starting Word, and the Word macro "Get <Get File>". You can add Get Documents to Word by saying "Add Get" with the requisite documented highlighted in Explorer, and then add them to this macro by saying "Add Global Get."]
Word    <Word My Documents Get Files> [This combines starting Word with the word macro "Get <My Documents Get Files>.You can add Get My Documents Files to Word by saying "Add Get My Documents Files", and then add them to this macro by saying "Add Global Get My Documents Files."]
Word    <My Documents Folder>     [this in the next to macros combine starting Word and the Word "Get "or "Look In" macros.]
Word    <My Documents Folder>    <My Documents File>
Word    <My Documents Folder>    <My Documents Subfolder>

Add Global    Get/Folder (My Documents Folder) (Docs Folder)/File (My Documents File) (Doc File)     [These macros allow you to add to the Get, my Documents Folder, My Documents File and My Documents Folder in the above global macros. Note that the names of the files must also be added to the Word macro using the Word "Add Get/Folder/File/Subfolder" macro.]

Start    <Start Menu Programs>    [This takes you to a specific folder in the Start Menu.]

Start Menu Programs:
StartUp, Netscape Communicator, Accessories, Iomega Tools

Open Word Files    [This starts Word and presses the "File" menu button so you can see the last files you accessed.]

Close/Maximize (Bigger)/Minimize/Restore    Window (Page)/Document
Close    1-5    Windows (Pages)/Documents
Close Document    1-10    Times

Close Next   [This combines "Close Window" and "Next Window." This is useful because NaturallySpeaking has a habit of popping up after every "Close Window." Note: if you use this for an application that needs to ask if you want to save a file before closing, this will switch to the next window without closing the file.]
Close    Erase/Save    Notepad/WordPad
Cascade/Horizontal/Vertical/Minimize    Windows    [Note: see the Global Navigation: Moving and Sizing Windows for macros that allow you to move and size windows.]

Next/Last    Window/Document/Pane (Cell)
1-10    Windows/Documents/Panes
Next/Last    1-10    Windows/Documents/Panes
Clear Desktop   [This minimizes all active programs.]

Switch    Now (All)/This (Selection) [These commands cut text into the NatSpeak Window. Use the "Copy to" commands in the "Global Navigation: Cutting, Pasting" section to copy text back. These are useful as an alternative to writing text in programs that do not support NatSpeak's full "Select and Say" capabilities.]
Macro    Window/Window Two    [These open the Macrowin.txt or Macrowin2.txt files in WordPad; in these files you can use the macro building commands in the 6 of 7 section below.]

Find/Find In (Find This In)     Google/Google University/Open Directory/TRN archive     [These macros open Netscape, then invoke a go command to go to the requested location. (For a full explanation of the "Go" commands, see the Netscape section)"Find In" copies any text you have selected, then pastes it into the search field of the web page.]

*Task    1-30    [This launches programs from the taskbar at the bottom of your screen.]
*Close Task    1-30
*Tray    1-10    (use Small Tray 1-10 for monitors set to 600 by 800)    ["Tray 1" single clicks on the rightmost item in the tray at the bottom right hand corner of your computer. "Tray 2" clicks on the second item, etc. Note that different program items respond differently to single clicks. A single click sometimes selects, sometimes launches, and sometimes turns a tray item on or off. If this macro does not work, it is because your screen settings are different from mine. The last section of this document has instructions about fixing macros like this.]
*Tray Right    1-10    (use Small Tray Right 1-10 for monitors set to 600 by 800)    [This right-clicks on tray items.]
Words    On/Off    [This toggles NaturalWord on and off. The NaturalWord indicator appears in the tray at the bottom right hand corner of your computer screen. It looks like a comic strip's thought balloon. The balloon is blue when NaturalWord is on and gray when it is off. It is usually on, but is useful to turn off in situations where you are using commands only and not dictating. Note: In order for this to work you must add a line to your options.ini file. See the Other Changes section on page 35 for instructions on how do this.]

Open File    [This and the following Find and Print commands are extremely common in programs, and commonly have the same control keyboard commands. The File and Find commands simply press Ctrl+F or Ctrl+O, respectively. The Find Another command presses Ctrl+F, Enter, Tab, Enter. The print commands all start out by pressing Ctrl+P. It is convenient to make these global since they are used in so many programs, but the drawback is in programs that don't use these conventions they may do something different. Please keep this in mind. (Open File, Please Find, Find Another and the print commands are the only global commands like this.)]
Open File    Big/Wide/Tall/Very Big/Very Wide/Very Tall   [This opens the file window, then sizes it bigger.]
Open File    a-z, Alpha-Zulu    [This opens the file window and goes to the letter of your choice in the file pane.]
Open File    Big/Wide/Tall/Very Big/Very Wide/Very Tall    a-z, Alpha-Zulu

Please
/Global   Find

Find Another    [This finds the next instance of the last thing you put in the in the Find Window. It opens and closes the find Window as part of the macro. You can also say Find Another from the Find Window and he will go to the next instance and close the Find Window. This macro is more efficient than keeping the Find Window open when you are looking through multiple instances of the same entry.]

Print    That/Now/Selection/Change/Pages/Current Page

Select/Correct/Insert Before/Insert After    <Any Word or Words on the Screen>
Select/Correct/Insert Before/Insert After   <Any Word or Words on the Screen>    Through    <Any Word or Words on the Screen>
Select Again
Select Again 1-10    [This repeats the "Select Again" command 1-10 times. It only works directly after you've used any of the above "Select" macros]

Control Panel
Change Control (Control Panel)    <ControlCategories>   [This allows you to get directly to a control panel category without having to go through the control panel first. Note: To add Control Panel categories to the macro say "Global Macro," use the Down 1-100 commands to get to the <ChangeControl> <ControlCategories> macro, say "Next 3" to get to the ControlCategories list, then add the new category as it appears in your Control Panel.]

Control Categories:
32-bit, Accessibility, Add New Hardware, Add Slash Remove Programs, Date (Date Slash Time), Display, Find Fast, Fonts, Game Controllers, Internet (Internet Options), Keyboard, Mail (Mail and Fax), MegaDial, Microsoft Mail, Modems, Mouse, Multi-Function Keyboard, Multimedia, Network, Passwords, Power, Printers, QuickTime, Regional, Sounds, System, Telepath, Users, Wacom.
Note: In Control Panel you can say "Go    <Control Categories>" to get to that category.

Change Start Menu
*Desktop (Screen)/Icon/Local (Item)/Start Menu    Menu (Right)   [These give you access to Windows right click shortcut menus. For instance, "Desktop Menu" right-clicks on the desktop right above the right hand corner of the taskbar, and "Taskbar Menu" right-clicks on the taskbar at the extreme lower right corner of the screen. Note that these macros won't work if you don't have open desktop or taskbar in these areas when you're saying the macro. Also note that you can usually go directly to the commands on these menus with other voice commands.]
*Desktop (Screen)/Taskbar    Options (Properties)   [These macros use the above right click shortcut menu is to get you directly to the Desktop and Taskbar Options windows.]
Window (System)/Document    Menu

Run Program
Find    <Explorer Files>    * [This brings up the Windows Explorer program open to the specified place.]

Explorer Files:
A, C, D, E, CD, Zip, Desktop, My Computer, My Documents, My Images, NatSpeak, Download, Macro Documentation, Global.

Drop List
Next/Last    Tab    [This allows you to advance to the next tabbed folder in a window. Many Properties or Options windows use tabbed folders. (Say "Show options" in the NatSpeak, Word or other windows to get to the options for those windows.) Note that this is not a Tab Key command.]
Next/Last    1-10    Tabs
Check (Toggle)    Box/Radio Button (Radio) (Button)    [This checks a selected Box or Radio button. Note that it's usually more efficient to say the word "Please" before the name of the Box or Radio Button to both select a box or radio button and toggle the checkmark.]
Show Cursor

Please    Expand/Contract    [This expands or contracts a folder in a tree -- it literally presses the plus or minus sign on the keypad, which is the same is clicking on the plus or minus sign to the left of a folder.]
Please Expand    Up (Last)/Down (Next)    [This contracts a highlighted folder, goes up or down 1 line, then expands that folder.]

Form Address

Dummy    Text/Graph (Paragraph)/Line    [This types three paragraphs, one paragraph, or one line of text. This is useful if you need to generate some random text quickly.]
Show    Date/Time/Date and Time    [Any of these bring up Notepad with the date and time posted.]

Message/Send (Send All)/Send This (Send Selection)    to   [This and the following set of macros work in conjunction with the Eudora email Program. Both sets bring up Eudora. The "Message" commands open a new message, the "Send" and "Send All" commands copy the full text of what you are currently in and launch a new message. The "Send This" and "Send Selection" commands do the same, but only copy what is selected. The plain "to" commands let you select a nickname off a list, while the <Nickname> commands below paste the Nickname on the to line of your message, paste what has been copied to the body of the message, and then put the cursor on the subject line.]
Message/Send (Send All)/Send This (Send Selection)    to    <Nickname>
[Note that you must add your Eudora nicknames to this macro in order for it to work. To do this, say "Edit Global Macro," "Press Angle s-e-n" and select one of the <SendForward> commands. Once it's highlighted, say "Press Enter," then "Next 3" to get to the list of nicknames. Add your nicknames exactly as they appear in the Eudora Address Book to this list, one to a line. Once you're done, say "Please Finish," to finish. Repeat the above steps with the second <SendForward> commands and with the two <SendForwardMessage> commands.
Note that this and the above macro are Global, so they work in any program. A similar set of macros works only within the Eudora program. These are listed in the Eudora section. You must add nicknames to the Eudora macro list separately for those macros to work. To do this, say "Eudora Macro," then "Down 3" to get to the same four <SendForward> and <SendForwardMessage> Macros.]
